Welcome to the Central Florida Diversity Mentoring Picnic website. On behalf of our sponsoring organizations and the participating lawyers, judges and mentees, past and present, we welcome the opportunity to help Florida law students be and feel included as members of the legal profession.
Our signature event is our annual picnic to be held January 31, 2015 11 AM to 4 PM. We look forward to seeing you there. It is open and free of charge to all lawyers, law students, judges and sponsors.Â
The goal of the picnic is to connect attendees who might otherwise not come into contact and promote inclusion of all. Diversity is often confined to adding "women" and others of "color" or ethnicity to the legal work force. Our goal is to include all in the legal profession especially those that sometimes feel excluded. We also want to familiarize law students and young lawyers with the many areas of legal specialty, in order to help them to determine the best path for their future careers. This year we have partnered with local bar organizations, law firms, judges and groups that represent specialty areas of law.     Â
We are confident that YOU will be a great addition to the Mentoring Picnic this year. Your participation, whether as a mentor, mentee, guest, or simply as a supporter of the goals of the program will promote this event. The dialogue will allow students and young lawyers to encounter professionals that will give them first-hand insight as to the day to day practice of law, build and foster lasting relationships, provide a diverse outlook on the modern practice of law, and most importantly, connect!Â
We hope to see you on January 31, 2015. We will save a spot especially for you.
